What does 'dealer stands on soft 17' mean?

The dealer must stop drawing cards when holding an ace counted as eleven plus a six. This rule lowers the house edge slightly compared to tables where the dealer hits soft seventeen.

What is Perfect Pairs in blackjack?

A side bet that pays if your first two cards form a pair. Mixed-colour pairs pay lower; same-suit pairs pay the highest multiplier, usually twenty-five to one.

What does 'surrender' mean?

You fold your hand before playing it and recover half your stake. Only a few tables allow surrender, and you must declare it before making any other decision.

What is Bet Behind?

When all seven seats are full you can wager on another player's hand. You earn the same payout they do but cannot control their hit, stand or split decisions.

What is a shoe in blackjack?

The plastic box holding six or eight shuffled decks. The dealer draws cards from the shoe until reaching the cut card, then shuffles a fresh set and loads a new shoe.

What does 'insurance' mean?

A side bet offered when the dealer shows an ace. It pays two to one if the dealer has blackjack but loses if the dealer's hole card is anything else.
